Jacquard Acid Dyes are the gold standard for coloring protein fibers and nylon. These powdered, hot-water dyes deliver exceptionally brilliant, even, and repeatable results that won’t bleed or fade with washing. Ideal for immersion dyeing to achieve deep, solid shades; they can also be used for direct painting or printing when steam-set. Despite the name, the only “acid” you need is common white vinegar or citric acid. Perfect for silk, wool, cashmere, alpaca, feathers, and nylon.

Basic Stove-Top Method (summary)

1. Fill a stainless/enamel pot with enough water for fabric to move freely.
2. Dissolve the required dye amount (shade-dependent).
3. Add pre-wetted fabric; heat gradually to 185–200°F (85–93°C).
4. Add ¼ cup white vinegar per lb of fabric (or 1 tbsp citric acid per lb).
5. Maintain temp ~30 min, stirring gently.
6. Wash with Synthrapol® or mild detergent in warm water.
   Tip for wool: heat up and cool down gradually to avoid felting.
